Adults

We strive to honor God and inspire worship by bringing together people of all experience levels to create something glorifying in its excellence.

Sing

IMG_7702The Chancel Choir is open to all, regardless of previous experience. Rehearsals for the fall begin on Wednesday, August 5th, from 7:00-8:30pm, but you can join the Chancel Choir at any point during the year. We have an exciting fall season ahead of us with a wonderful opportunity to join with the San Antonio Symphony in their “Gala Opening Concert” on September 19th.  This is a wonderful time to join with others in serving the Lord through your gift of song. Please contact the music office so that a music folder can be prepared just for you.

IMG_7730Sanctuary Choir-Members of the Chancel Choir who want an additional musical challenge are invited to interview for Sanctuary Choir. This group works on repertoire at a higher level of difficulty and sings in worship monthly. Work is hard, but the rewards are great. God is surely honored by the beauty of the music they make.

Outreach Octet is a small and highly skilled group that is designed to be portable! No cumbersome piano here; all a cappella singing that can be done in almost any environment. You are as likely to see them in your Sunday school class or shopping mall as you are in a worship setting; all in the name of getting the music of God out there!

Longs, Sherry, ElizabethSummer Choir is an opportunity to take it easy and just have a good time making music together. We have shorter rehearsals, easier music and more time for fellowship. Many people who aren’t able to make the full year commitment of Chancel Choir join us just for the summers to get their fix of worshiping God in song!

Ring

IMG_7579IMG_7578Adult handbell choirs at University serve the church family in a variety of worship and fellowship settings. In addition, they have great value as small groups of support and fellowship for their participants. Each group rehearses weekly, September through May, and plays on about 6 major occasions during the year. All current groups work at a “beyond beginner” level, but new ringers may sometimes be trained “on the job” — and people with prior ringing experience can always find a place in one of the groups.

Play

DSC_6076DSC_6078You may not be aware that the Orchestra is all volunteer. We have a blessed mix of amateurs and professional level musicians who are a part of one of UUMC’s most exciting ensembles. If you currently play, or played years ago in your high school band or orchestra, then you are “good enough” for the orchestra. We will kick off on Monday, Sept. 14th at 7:00pm, so let us know if you are coming and what you play, so we can get music ready for you.

for more information, contact Mary@uchurch.tv

DSC_6122Pianists- We have a number of opportunities for pianists throughout the year. Those comfortable with about 15 minutes of solo piano work are invited to join the team of musicians who provide music for Wednesday Night Worship. Accompanists are also needed for children’s and youth choirs at a wide rage of skill levels.

If you are interested in accompaning adult ensembles or playing for Wednesday night worship, contact John.Tidmore@uchurch.tv .
